SINTETIC Annual Meeting held in Florence

From 3 to 4 March 2026, partners of the SINTETIC project gathered in Florence, Italy, for the project’s Annual Meeting. Hosted in the historic Osservatorio Ximeniano, the two-day meeting brought together consortium members to review progress, exchange expertise and coordinate the next steps in the development of the project. The meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to assess the work carried out so far and strengthen collaboration across the different project activities.

These exchanges highlighted the strong collaboration within the consortium and the shared objective of improving transparency and data reliability throughout the timber supply chain. With all work packages on track, the project continues to advance steadily.

Field demonstration in San Godenzo

On 5 March, participants travelled to San Godenzo (Italy) for a field demonstration organised by Foresta Modello Montagne Fiorentine, CNR IBE Institute of Bioeconomy and Bluebiloba Startup Innovativa.

The demonstration allowed partners to test several technologies developed within the project directly in a forest environment.

Among the solutions presented were:

  • TreeScanner, an application developed by Arboreal that uses smartphone LiDAR sensors to quickly measure and assess trees directly in the forest
  • RFID tags, developed by Simtrona, enabling each log to receive a unique identifier and be tracked from the standing tree through the supply chain to the final product

These solutions aim to enhance the traceability of timber flows and support better monitoring, documentation and management across the entire wood value chain.

The consortium would like to thank all partners and local stakeholders for their active participation and contributions to the meeting and field demonstration.
