On 25 September 2025, the DigiMedFor and SINTETIC projects jointly hosted a dissemination event in Vallombrosa, Italy, bringing together forest managers, researchers, policymakers, and technology providers to explore how innovative digital technologies are transforming Mediterranean forest management.
The event provided a full day of technical presentations and live demonstrations, offering participants a first-hand look at cutting-edge tools developed within both projects. From digital forest inventory applications to advanced wood traceability systems, attendees discovered practical solutions designed to improve sustainability, transparency, and efficiency across the forestry value chain.
The event was officially opened by the Italian Carabinieri Forestali, who highlighted the importance of digital innovation in supporting forest protection, monitoring, and legality. This was followed by an overview of the SINTETIC project presented by its coordinator, Gianni Picchi, and an introduction to the DigiMedFor project by its coordinator, Luigi Saulino, who presented the projects’ objectives and expected impacts.
Through real-world demonstrations and expert exchanges, the joint event clearly illustrated how digitalisation is reshaping forestry practices across the Mediterranean region, supporting more resilient, traceable, and sustainable forest management systems.
The strong participation and active discussions confirmed the high level of interest in digital solutions for forestry and the added value of cross-project collaboration for effective dissemination and stakeholder engagement.
